At RAF, we strive to alleviate the burden on the public sector by actively operationalizing self-reliance within our communities. Our mission extends beyond the mere provision of housing; we focus on the comprehensive integration of individuals into the fabric of society.

Education & Training 

• Objective: To empower residents through workforce upskilling.  
• Action: We implement rapid-certification programs that cater to high-demand trade skills, along with targeted instruction in “Financial English” literacy to enhance financial management abilities.  
• Outcome: Our initiative enables residents to secure employment, leading to tax-paying, independent community members who contribute positively to the economy.

Advocacy & Outreach

• Objective: To provide targeted interventions that address immediate needs. 

 Action:

1. Engage with policymakers to advocate for specific legislation that can bring about positive change.  

2. Inspire our members and audience to take action by writing letters to their representatives in support of important bills.  

3. Equip lawmakers with nonpartisan educational research, analysis, and expert commentary to inform their decisions.  

4. Share our insights by testifying at public legislative hearings to influence policy discussions.  

5. Launch comprehensive educational campaigns on critical policy issues to raise awareness, ensuring you focus on the bigger picture without promoting specific legislation.

6. We are committed to actively advocating for our audience by representing their interests and needs.

Our goal is to create meaningful opportunities and improvements that enhance the well-being of those we serve.

7. We deploy Mobile Resource Units (MRUs) strategically to encampments and transit hubs, offering on-site intake services that facilitate access to critical resources and support systems.  

•  Outcome: This proactive approach results in reduced loitering in public spaces and provides an immediate alternative to emergency room visits for individuals in need of assistance.
• Our goal is to create meaningful opportunities and improvements that enhance the well-being of those we serve.

Shelter & Resources 

• Objective: To ensure stabilization of individuals transitioning into permanent housing.  
• Action: Our “Bridge Housing” model offers non-congregate living arrangements that prioritize privacy, hygiene, and mental health support. This intimate setting fosters a sense of security and dignity among residents.  
•  Outcome: As a result of these conditions, we observe higher retention rates in permanent housing placements, contributing to long-term stability for individuals.

Community Integration 

• Objective: To facilitate retention and the establishment of meaningful roots within the community.  
• Action: We organize six-month mentorship circles that pair beneficiaries with established community anchors—local leaders and organizations who provide guidance, support, and networking opportunities.  
• Outcome: This initiative not only strengthens community ties but also significantly reduces recidivism rates, helping individuals avoid a return to homelessness.
